About the Author: David K McCullough

David has lived an interesting life and done many different things mainly because he is still trying to figure out what to do for a living. At the age of 53, he is finally giving writing a go even though his high school English teacher prodded him in that direction early on!

His career is varied starting out with work on a ranch in Oregon as well as working through High School at a hardware store. He attempted Industrial Engineering but decided instead to become a commercial diver in the Gulf of Mexico.

Tired of people trying to get him killed offshore, he got a job at an auto body shop just for fun while he tried to figure out what he wanted to do. Well, he started making pretty good money (for him) and went on to become a journeyman painter. This led to an invention and he started his own manufacturing business. He has been doing this since 1993 and it has been very successful.

David however gets bored easily so he started creating custom epoxy counter tops as a creative outlet. That business is holding it’s own still. Bored yet again, he finally decided it was time to pursue that writing career he had been putting off his whole life.

And here we are! Buy his books and enjoy them because he needs a new boat!

I had the good fortune of meeting this author

I had the good fortune of meeting this author, David McCullough in person, and from talking with him I got the impression that he knows his subject matter quite well. He’s obviously done an enormous amount of hunting and roaming the woods of North Idaho. So he was able to inject a level of firsthand knowledge into the story that not all authors manage to do. A degree of how-to survival information is also woven into the story nicely, and I suspect that even the most experienced outdoorsmen could learn a thing or two from this novel. The best technique for sharpening a hunting knife is just one of many neat tricks that come to mind.
Most important of all, however, is that “All The Pretty Missiles” is well composed. This is a novel that spins a main plot and several subplots together into an entertaining scenario. David is a skilled storyteller and I am enjoying this novel immensely.

Very good writer in giving the reader a mental picture without laboring over so many details. Warning: there is foul language, in which we didn’t care for.

I found a copy that my wife had purchased and had no other plans for the evening, so I sat by the fire and began reading. This is not typically the type of reading I do, but, I found David’s style appealing and enjoyable. I found myself entertained enough to complete the reading before turning in for the night, taking time away only long enough time to feed the fire. I look forward to the next installment.

An attention grabber

A great start for a new author. A great read that catches your attention from the start. Although this story can use some minor brush-ups, like adding date and location to the start of the chapter (as you do go from past to present with each chapter). I can’t wait to see what Mr. McCullough can come up with to top this one in book 2 Sea of Glass. I look forward to watching Mr. McCullough grow as an author.
